Meta Data Editing

Back in 1999 Meta Tags, namely the “keyword” tag was considered to be the most vital aspect of ranking highly in the Search Engines. Nowadays the Meta Tags aren’t the only concern for Search Engine Optimisation, but do still play a big role.

There are essentially three different Meta Tags that are of concern when it comes to ensuring your website is optimised.

The first is the Title Tag, which plays a major role in telling the Search Engines what the subject of a website or a particular webpage is.

The second is the description tag, which is often over looked by webmasters. The description tag has two goals – to continue to help the search engine to establish what the page is about, as well as acting as a sales pitch to those who can see it when viewing the listing in the search engine results.

The third and final tag is the keyword tag. Less emphasis has been placed on this tag in recent years, but it does still continue to play a small role in categorising your website.
