Questions We Will Ask About Your Website

Filed Under (seo questions) by admin on 26-06-2008

As a specialist search engine optimisation company, we firmly believe in building a close relationship with our clients. For us to do this, we need to gain a full understanding of your website’s history and your goals.

Before we agree to perform SEO work on your website, we will ask you the below questions. For peace of mind, the reasons why we ask these questions are included!

1: When was your domain name registered and how long has your website been online in it’s current state?
We can quickly check to see the exact date of when the domain name was registered, but we may struggle to find out what the website has been used for throughout it’s existence. If you could help us with this, it will allow us to establish how long the website has been used for it’s current purpose.

2: Who is running or maintaining your website? For example, is it run in-house or by an external designer?
To make any changes or amendments to the website, we will need access to the ftp and any administration area (if the website is built using a content management system for example). If your website is not run in-house, we will need the contact details of who is maintaining the website.

3: Have you ever worked with another SEO company or freelancer? If you have why has the relationship dissolved?
This will help us gain an understanding of previous SEO campaigns that may have taken place. It can also help us discover why your website may no longer even be indexed in search engines like Google!

4: What (if any) is your current internet marketing strategy?
Like the previous question, it will help us gain an understanding of the current levels of search engine optimisation work (if any) which are taking place.

5: What are your goals from a search engine optimisation campaign?
This will help us work with you to reach your goals, which could be separated into short, medium and long term. If needed we will also be able to manage your expectations. For example ranking for competitive keywords is going to take longer than 30 days!
